This company was founded as a result of several major parts of my life coming together in unexpected ways with unexpected inspiration.
At 18 months, my son was found to have a severe Sensory Processing Disorder that has created lifelong challenges for not only him, but our family as well. A few years later, it was also determined that he has ADHD and Autism in addition to other medical issues.
My lifelong love of creativity and problem solving blended well into working with therapists in an effort to figure out how best to help and support my son. A few years before he was born, I stumbled into the joy of creating my own soap and other bath and body products. A few months before my son's SPD diagnosis, my mother gifted me a sewing machine. Little did I know I would be able to combine these three components to not only help my son, but others as well.
The products addressing SPD in 2004, were extremely limited and more often than not, cost prohibitive. As a result of these challenges, Occupational Therapists and others working with individuals with sensory issues and challenges had to find creative ways to come up with items to help their clients.
Seeing the bits and pieces of what they were bringing to our home...and that they helped, gave me the opportunity to say, "I see what you are doing and I can help you." From that moment, the earliest products for Scentsitivites were created.
Once again, my life is aligning with the opportunity to bring my knowledge and products to the market. In 2018, I closed the doors on both my bath and body business and Scentsitivities. 2024, has brought me a renewed passion to channel this direction and create again.
2024, also brings me the joy of having an Occupational Therapist "on staff". My daughter has always been her younger brother's greatest advocate. She was present at every therapy appointment and participated in all of his stages and phases. it brings me endless joy that she has chosen the field of Occupational Therapy as her career path. Needless to say, I will be asking for her professional expertise to build and grow the Sensory Therapy line of Scentsitivities.
I will add more to our story as time goes on, but if you have made it this far, please know if you are struggling with SPD or other sensory challenges, we have been where you are and we fully understand what you are going through.
We are here to help. We are here to provide products that have helped not only our family, but many many others over the last 21 years.

My name is Heather. I am mom to three adult children plus an amazing bonus daughter. I am married to Craig who loves and supports me through all of my craziness and told me to go for it when I suggested relaunching my company.
My daughter Meridyth is my OT support and expert as well as the living example of how much it takes from everyone to raise a differently-abled child.
My oldest son, Graeson, gave me the honor of being a mother. He is also the inspiration for my developing line of products for men.
I don't think my bonus daughter Zoe had any idea what she was getting into with my crazy family, but she and her dad make everything complete in my life.
Then there is Riley. Riley is my inspiration for everything Sensory and for the need to find better ways to share what we have learned and lived through wither others. So many others are just beginning to figure out our their journey through Sensory Processing Disorders, Autism, and so much more. He opened my eyes in more ways than I can ever explain.
I would be remiss to add my mom, Shary, to My Tribe. She has always been my greatest advocate! She has always supported me and encouraged me and has stood by me through, literally, everything.

There are so many more amazing people in My Tribe, but I need to shout out to one more. My lifelong friend, my mentor, the woman who calls me out and challenges me, and inspires me daily: Francine. As the owner of www.buddhabooth.com and www.myndsetting.com in joining her tribe, I realized it was time to bring what I have to offer out of storage (mentally and literally).
Last but not least (I know....you thought I was done)...thank you Toni for giving me the courage to leap. For cheering me on when I have done things most others thought were crazy. Who is an inspiration for female entrepreneurs. You have also taught me not only HOW to pivot, but how critical it is when things don't go as planned. I have been behind the scenes for a long time, but you helped give me the courage to come out of the shadows and try this again. What's the worst thing that happens, right?

SHELF LIFE: Our products are made by hand in small batches so they will always be fresh. We recommend using all products within sixty (60) days of purchase.
I am transparent about the ingredients that go into each and every product. Anyone who knows me knows that I am also a compulsive researcher and I do my best to create the best products with the best ingredients. If you are unsure about any of the ingredients in any product, please do not hesitate to contact me. I will gladly direct you to information if I am unable to answer your questions directly.
RETURN POLICY: We do not accept product returns unless the product reaches you damaged. We make no claims about our products and will not accept returns if they do not perform to your liking or if you are unhappy with the scent or texture. We realize that not every scent is as amazing to everyone as we think it is, but this is not a product flaw, but rather a personal preference. As we cannot reuse or resell products due the personal care nature of our items, unfortunately, this is where the best option is to pass it on to someone who will love it. Thank you for your understanding.
SHIPPING POLICY: we are working out the kinks in shipping for our website. In the event that shipping calculates significantly lower than charged, we will issue a refund. In the event shipping is higher than charged, this is on us.
WARNINGS: please always test products on a small area before fully committing as everyone reacts differently to ingredients - especially essential oils.
Please only use products as intended. We know that sometimes our products look good enough to eat - but please don't!
DOG Products: Dog products are designed and intended for DOGS. Cats have a completely different set of rules...hopefully that's enough said.
